Wedgnock Dog Training Centre

I am very fortunate to have alternative venues for away days, two day training and residential holidays.

 

My Banbury ground is ideal for challenging water work with two large lakes, one with an island. We also have the use of cover crops and rolling hill for some land work. Accommodation is available here, on a self catering basis.

 

I occasionally run groups just outside Welshpool on some beautiful hill, making challenging work in heather, on hillside with running streams. This is physically challenging ground for both handler and dog. Accommodation is at a nearby pub/hotel. This venue is only suitable for good novice or open dogs, and handlers striving towards field trials. 

 

My residential holidays are in the highlands of Scotland. 

Accommodation is in a stunning house with two people sharing twin en suite rooms. Full catering is included in the cost, with the evening meal being cooked by the estate chef. 

The ground we have use of, is parkland with a huge lake, heather hillside with valleys and fencing, and woodland for something different. 

While staying you are able to walk as many miles as you like in the extensive forestry. 

The week usually starts with arrival on Sunday, training on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, a day off on Thursday, training Friday and Saturday, departing on the following Sunday. 

I generally do two weeks here, week one being for more novice standard dogs and week two is with Steve joining me for a week, for people already trialling dogs, or with dogs of trial standard, to polish and fine tune training.

Steve and I have made up five Field Trial Champions between us, with at least another twelve Field Trial winners, most of which have had awards in open trials.

Steve is an A panel retriever judge, and I am a B panel retriever judge, so we both judge at a level which qualifies a dog for FTCH status. 

 

All venues with accommodation DO NOT allow dogs inside, so your dogs must be used to, and content with staying overnight in your vehicle QUIETLY.
